Set in 17 acres of woodland and surrounded by rolling countryside, this caravan park near Bude, on the Devon/Cornwall border, is a true haven of peace and tranquillity.

There are over 100 level electric and non-electric pitches, plus a limited number of en-suite touring pitches with their own toilet and shower, all set in picturesque woodland surroundings. Guests can make use of the great facilities on park, including the Woodman Bar and restaurant, a shop, a shower block, laundy, play areas, nature trails and dog walking area. The site is set in one of the South West’s most picturesque regions, blessed with outstanding natural beauty.

The static ’vans on this campsite are well hidden amongst the mature trees, so you have a feeling of peace and solitude at all times.

The Aviary near the large bar and club room will keep the young ones entertained for hours, with the brightly-coloured parakeets and cockatiels flying backwards and forwards in their large house.

As the campsite is so central, there’s plenty to do in the area. For the children there’s the Milky Way Adventure Park, with its Birds of Prey centre, or The Big Sheep which is great if the weather is poor, although the Sheepdog Trials and Horse Whispering should not be missed so try and go on a fine day.

At Hartland, the Cheristow Lavender Nursery specialises in over 100 varieties of lavenders, or you can visit their rose garden. They also make many handcrafted items to take home as gifts. Visit the old Quay at Hartland Point, with over 100 steps down to the beach from the headland – not for the faint-hearted!

Clovelly lies to the north, where you can discover this timeless village, complete with cobbled streets and gleaming white cottage offset by the deep blue of the harbour. Charles Kingsley was sufficiently inspired to write two novels while living here – Westward Ho! and The Water Babies.
