Ashbourne Heights Holiday Park

Set three miles north of the market own of Ashbourne, Ashbourne Heights is located at Fenny Bentley and offers level pitches set near mature trees. On site facilities include electric hook-ups servicing most of the pitches as well as three toilet blocks, a laundrette, washing-up facilities, indoor pool and a licensed shop.

Ashbourne itself is a pretty little market town that is set in a valley and offers a wide range of teashops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It also has a regular markets and an eclectic range of shops that include everything from antique shops to bookstores. It’s well worth a visit.

Head away from Ashbourne towards Leek on the A52 and you’ll see the signs to Alton Towers – a theme park set in 500 acres of Staffordshire moorland. As well as all manner of adult thrill rides, there are also plenty of rides to keep children entertained.

For a more natural experience, then lace your boots and hit the Tissington Trail which can be accessed close to the entrance of the park. This 13-mile long trail follows the line of an old railway that connects Ashbourne to Buxton and takes in some picturesque scenery en route.

Also within striking distance of the site is Matlock and Matlock Bath, which is a popular summer hang out for bikers and a beautiful little town set in the base of a valley – it’s well worth visiting. The Heights of Abraham cable car ride can be found here and gives a fantastic view of the Derwent Valley.

A little further on from Matlock you’ll find Bakewell, home of the famous pudding (locals get upset if you call it a tart!), plus the stately magnificence of Chatsworth House, famed for its cascading steps waterfall and popularised by many films, including Pride and Prejudice.

With the delights of the River Dove and especially Dove Dale near to the site there is lots to see and do in the area and it would be difficult to be bored here. All-in-all a great base from which to explore the Peak District.
