Waters Edge Caravan Park

Crooklands is a well positioned little village – close to the M6 (junction 36) for easy access, and handy for nipping in and out of Kendal, Windermere and Ambleside. But it is far enough away from them to remain quiet when they are mad busy. So a visit to Waters Edge campsite gives you the best of both worlds – a quiet location to base yourself with bags of facilities and lots of peace and quiet, but a good base for exploring the Lakes from. For hillwalkers and mountain bikers it is a great spot to stay – you can drive to the southern fells in less than half an hour, have a great day on them and then retire to a haven of tranquillity at day’s end.

Waters Edge has lots of hardstanding pitches for caravan with hook ups. It is very popular and has a lot of seasonal vans in place so make sure you ring and book in advance before just turning up. There is a pretty camping area close to reception by the sites ornamental pond which is a real show piece and loved by kids because of the ducks on it. A long road winds up the narrow site which is bordered on each side by babbling brooks and running water.

This is a lovely level campsite and well screened by trees and higher ground so it is well sheltered and very quiet. The toilet block is located about half way up the campsite and is modern and clean and maintained to a high standard. Showers are free. There is a good laundry as well.

At the campsite entrance a barrier controls coming and going and reception is located in a lovely building that blends in well with the local area. At reception you will also find a popular bar and T.V. lounge and also a pool room. Reception also has a well stocked shop and is staffed by helpful people who know the local area well.

Next to reception (near the bar area) is a barbeque area with picnic tables and a large grass area for kids to play on. Waters Edge is a great location to bring the family to with lots of facilities and ideally situated to explore the Lake District.
