Trewince Park is easily located, with a large well-signed entrance. Although still a working farm, it has been landscaped to make a wonderful holiday park – retaining many of the trees and adding flowering shrubs and plants to give a colourful display throughout the spring and summer, and with wonderful panoramic views of the Cornish countryside.
Although there are some static ’vans on site these are well away from the touring area, which has many little hedged bays for those preferring some privacy, and the grass is beautifully kept and well-mown. Although sloping, the pitches are tiered, and many overlook the lovely heated outdoor pool.
There is coarse fishing in the beautiful lake for clients, although you’ll need to invest in a permit.
The site is close to the picturesque village of Padstow, with its quaint harbour, and the Camel Estuary which is ideal for water skiing, wind surfing, sailing and boat trips. If you take a boat trip and are lucky you will see dolphins, seals and even basking sharks.
Horse riding and golf courses are all within easy reach, while the coastline offers many beautiful walks and cycle trails. If you have not brought your bikes – don’t worry – you are spoiled for choice with the many cycle hire shops in the area. If the weather is poor the children will enjoy Tumbletopia World of Stones, with over 70 varieties of semi-precious stones which the children can collect and keep what they find, and the Crazy Camel indoor playground.
When the sun shines why not make a visit to Crealy Adventure Park, one of Cornwall’s largest outdoor attract-ions, or Old Macdonald’s Farm?
Nearby Bedruthan Steps, run by the National Trust, is one of the most popular destinations on the Cornish coast because of the spectacular cliff top view of rocks stretching into the distance. There is a cliff staircase down to the beach, but this is unsafe for bathing at any time.
In summer months the whole family can enjoy the Maize Maze at Padstow – have a long stick with a red flag on it to wave if you can’t find your way out, though…
