The entire campsite is gently sloping but all 100 pitches are level, with most divided by hedges or flowering shrubs, into private bays. All 88 touring pitches are 'all-weather' gravel, with their own grass area for sitting. A mix of 8 standard electric, 11 premier, 44 super and 25 premier pitches. The park’s glamping offering comprising of 6 pods, 2 luxury shepherd huts (one with hot tub) and 4 mini lodges (one with hot tub). All glamping have their own fire pit and outdoor seating as standard and the newest units also have sun loungers.
This is a first class, five-star campsite in an equally fantastic position, in unspoilt countryside with panoramic views of the Mendips. Glastonbury and the magical Tor, one of Somerset’s most famous landmarks, are a short walk away.
Reception combines an extremely well-stocked shop; farm fresh free-range eggs, home produced meat, ice cream machine and milk dispenser are available plus fresh bread and bakery goods are available to order, with the added attraction of an off-licence, delicious cakes, camping equipment and doggy treats.
Opposite the shop is a games room, with pool table, dart board and TV, comfortable sofas, a big range of tourist leaflets, free walking / cycling maps and plenty of information about the local area. There’s also a coffee machine and book exchange.
Next to reception you’ll find the Lavender Country Kitchen tent which offers hot breakfasts 6 days a week and a range of meals on Thurs, Fri and Sat evenings. Don’t miss the hog roast!
Larger than average pitches are set in several landscaped areas; the Walnut Circle has spacious pitches all of which are fully-serviced, set around a large grass circle centred by mature shrubs. This area is particularly popular, so book well in advance to bag a pitch here.
Above this are The Terraces and The Birches with standard and super pitches, and the other side of the footpath to Glastonbury and the Tor is the Orchard, which is home to a number of fruit trees. Here there is a mix of pitches, glamping cabins, shepherd huts and 4 mini lodges.
Further on into the site you’ll find Top and Lower Oaks, both with a huge grass area in the middle, for a sense of openness and the Butterfly walk in between. These areas contain a mix of superior, premier and super pitches, as well as the ultra-modern, large utilities block.
A network of scenic footpaths surrounds the campsite, while the cyclist has quiet country lanes to explore. Gog and Magog, the ancient oaks are nearby.
The fisherman has a 1/2 acre pond to fish that has 12 platforms suitable for the disabled. The original, heated amenity block has been fully refurbished and now has 3 new private wet rooms, a men’s and ladies section and a beautiful vanity bar for the ladies. There are also private washing cubicles, disabled facilities, laundry, washing up sinks, BBQ cleaning sink and a freezer and microwave facility.
The newest amenities block is one of the finest in the industry and it incorporates the use of renewable energy sources - very much in keeping with the green ethos. The large foyer leads to seven unisex shower cubicles, each equipped with a wet room-style shower, hand basin, mirror, hand drier and toilet. Guests with accessible needs have an extra-large disabled suite. There are additional showers, wash basins and toilets in separate ladies and gents areas. One of the nice extra touches includes a separate make-up area with mirrors and electrical sockets for hair care equipment in the ladies. Also in this complex is a washing up area with four sinks, plus a microwave oven and ice pack freezer (free to use). Another 'Old Oaks touch' is the provision of a washer and dryer dedicated for dog blankets and bedding.
The whole space is light and airy thanks to high ceilings with large sky-lights and beautifully tiled floors and walls. Solid oak doors complement the building which is faced entirely in local stone.
Little added extras: free walking and cycling maps, camper clean machine, hot food available 7 nights a week, including 2 x Indian nights, Fish & Chip, Wood-fired pizza, Mexican, Gourmet burgers and Hog roast.
Dogs are well catered for: 300m secure dog run with dog bag dispenser, new in 2022 is the 3.5 acre dog field, featuring a dog swimming pond, dog shower with warm water, doggy paddling pool in hot weather, lots of natural dog treats and toys in the shop.
The campsite encourages visitors to recycle as much as possible, with plenty of recycling points. Fresh water points are situated near to all pitches, this campsite is well landscaped, clean and neat - one of the best we’ve visited.
