Ten Dog Friendly Pubs near Caravan Campsites
One of the big attractions of caravanning holidays is that you can take your dog with you. A caravan frees you from the restrictions often placed upon holidaymakers when you stay in a hotel or a Bed & Breakfast.
Another joy of caravanning is being able to walk to the local pub for a drink and to take your dog with you. Dog friendly pubs make the whole experience more relaxing and fun. Why leave your dog in your caravan when you can include them in the walk to the pub too? After all, your dog is part of the family.
We decided to combine to most dog friendly pubs in the UK with local caravan campsites which welcome dogs too. Using the 'Doggie Pubs' website, a bit of Google research and some local knowledge, here is our list of the most dog friendly pubs which caravanners will love too.
Northern Dog Friendly Pubs
North Yorkshire - The Board Inn, Hawes
Our digital editor, Will Hawkins, has eaten here and the food was good, and the beer was great, especially after a long walk in the Dales that day. The Board Inn is an authentic, down to earth and friendly Yorkshire pub.
The owners welcome dogs (Rumour suggests they have dog treats behind the bar) and your dog(s) will enjoy lying in front of the fire while you eat, drink and recount your day of adventures.

Bainbridge Ings Caravan and Campsite
Lake District - The Woolpack Inn, Boot
For a dog friendly pub in the Lake District, The Woolpack Inn in Boot is a good choice, according to Doggie Pubs. 'Well behaved dogs are welcome', which goes without saying. Who wants badly behaved dogs in a pub?
If you are a walker, this could be the ideal location from which to strike out into the Fells. It's close to Scafell Pike if you want to 'bag' that mountain, and then get back to your caravan for a clean up before heading off to the pub.

Eskdale Camp Site
Northumberland - The Black Bull, Haltwhistle
The Black Bull has five-star reviews for being a dog friendly pub with "great value, generous portions, and good old fashioned home made food with a hint of je ne sais quoi". We're intrigued by that 'hint'. Have they got some local delicacy in the food?
If Hadrian's Wall interests you, just up the road (about 5 miles) is Vindolanda, the Roman fort and village to visit. There are the most visible sections of the Wall nearby along which to walk your dog too.

Scottish Dog Friendly Pubs
Highlands - Tailrace Inn
Spring is an ideal season to visit the Scottish Highlands (i.e. the midges are not a problem!), and experiencing the wild beauty, friendly locals and good food is a must.
An excellent, dog friendly pub is the Tailrace Inn, which is at the eastern end of Loch Leven in the village of Kinlochleven. The Inn has a good review which says there are water bowls for the dogs, treats for them and 'great food' for you.

Caolasnacon Caravan and Camping Park
Cheshire - The Queens Head, Frodsham
A gastropub that welcomes dogs too? Yes, this is it, The Queens Head in Frodsham. The staff appear to make a big fuss of dogs and their owners who come to the pub.
If that's not enough for you (or the bar is full), try the Helter Skelter close by, which is also dog friendly and has a good selection of real ales and good food.

Dog Friendly Pubs in the South
Norfolk - The Globe, Wells-next-the-Sea
If you've not been crabbing on the quay at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk, then you have missed out.
Once you've caught your crabs (and returned them to the sea), a short walk into the centre of this lovely town brings you to a Green on which sits The Globe. It's dog friendly and, in the summer, you can sit outside in the afternoon sunshine enjoying this picturesque spot.

Pinewoods Holiday Park
Hampshire - Foresters Arms, Brockenhurst
Walk from the pub into the forest with your dog and back to your caravan. Does that sound like an excellent scenario? You can do it in Brockenhurst in Hampshire when you visit the Foresters Arms in the centre of the town. The pub welcomes dogs inside and outside, and the staff make a fuss of the dogs (and their owners).
The New Forest is a glorious part of the world, and there are many things to do in the area, including the Beaulieu motor museum and the lovely village Buckler’s Hard, which has a couple of dog friendly pubs too!

Hollands Wood Camping in the Forest
Dog Friendly Pubs and Campsites in the West
Cornwall - The Red River Inn, Hayle
Reviewers say that the staff give dogs a chew stick on arrival and there is plenty of water in bowls for a good drink after their walk on the nearby coast. Although the food is simple, it's meant to be superb, which will keep everyone happy.
There are several pubs nearby which welcome dogs, so you will have plenty of choices if you are staying for more than a few days.

Atlantic Coast Holiday Park
Devon - The Village Inn, Lynmouth
Lynmouth could be the set of a pirate film. And, the Village Inn welcomes "soggy dogs and muddy boots" so it is a good place to stop if you've been walking along the Coastal Path and need somewhere to stop for refreshments.
Photos online from the inn show plenty of dogs in them, so it's a favourite canine choice!

Lynton Camping and Caravanning Club Site
Wales - Three Horse Shoes Inn, Groesffordd, Brecon
For 'foodies', the Three Horse Shoes Inn is a great pub to visit. And, it is very dog friendly too. You can take your dog into the bar and front garden. It seems like the owners provide 'doggy bags' too for your pet.
Nearby are the Brecon Beacons, if you fancy a walk to the top of Pen-y-Fan and the other peaks nearby. It's a beautiful part of the world and worth visiting for the local food and scenery.
