Spotlight on: Waleswood Caravan & Camping Park

Some campsites are worth visiting for their spectacular views, some for their excellent facilities and others for their relaxed atmosphere. Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park is worth visiting for all this and more.

This five-pennant gold award-winning campsite is open all year and dog-friendly, and ideally located in the centre of England at Rother Valley Country Park, just off Junction 31 of the M1 motorway in South Yorkshire.

Lying just a 30-minute drive from the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District this destination offers a bit of everything – superb facilities, a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful views across the water.

In an idyllic setting overlooking Rother Valley Country Park, the 12.5-acre campsite has vast amounts of outdoor space within 750 acres of country park to enjoy during your stay. With its lakes, trails and cycle tracks, Waleswood offers a vast range of activities to suit every member of the family. You can hire cycles for all ages and abilities from the cycle hire centre within the country park including family cycles, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Completed in 2019, we’re confident you won’t find better facilities anywhere, but that’s not just our opinion given the awards this high-quality site has received. All 163 pitches come with electric hook-ups and offer a choice of either hardstanding, super or extra-large pitches. Customer reviews rave about the cleanliness of the superior toilets, showers and wet room facilities and with an onsite licensed café, indoor games room and free WiFi, not even bad weather can spoil your stay.

Facilities on the site include two heated toilet/shower blocks, an accessible family wet room with an adult size rise and fall changing bed, family shower rooms, accessible shower and toilet facilities, undercover pot washing and food preparation area.

You could quite happily spend a week relaxing here relaxing on pitch or in the country park, but you really should do some exploring. Notable places to visit include Wentworth Woodhouse, where you can have a roof top tour and see the tranquil village and Wentworth Gardens from above. You can also head underground with a cave tour at Creswell Crags or meet creepy-crawlies, meerkats, lemurs and birds of prey at The Tropical Butterfly House.

For those visiting with young children, Gullivers Valley Theme Park is within walking distance of Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park.
