Dog-friendly Holidays


For dog owners, no holiday is complete without taking their faithful friend away with them, too; they’re another member of the family after all. On a break away with your dog there are hours of fun to be enjoyed exploring the great outdoors together, whether that be walks on the beach, paddling in streams or sniffing out adventure in woodlands.

To help take any hassle out of planning a holiday with your hound, we’ve put together this selection of dog-friendly campsites and holiday parks where pets are just as welcome as their owners.

CORNWALL - Meadow Lakes Holiday Park, St Austell

CORNWALL - Newperran, Newquay
Enjoy a holiday at Newperran. Stay in brand new 2 or 3-bedroom caravans or bring your own caravan, motorhome or tent and set yourself up on well-kept pitches. Surrounded by rolling countryside, its an ideal place for you and your four-legged friend. Facilities: Heated swimming pool, skate park, adventure play, newly refurbished, dog-friendly bar and eatery, entertainment and activity programme.

DEVON - Hidden Valley Park, Ilfracombe
Tucked away in a wooded valley, close to the picturesque Ilfracombe Harbour and Woolacombe beach. There are miles of walks for you and your dog through the woodland and the five-acre field used for overflow camping is the perfect place for pets to get some exercise and have a good run. They’ll also enjoy taking a dip and rolling round in the River Cain which runs through the park and dogs are allowed on most of the local beaches. The site is a secluded retreat perfect for rest and relaxation. On site you’ll find a shop and a bar and restaurant area serving hot food, snacks and drinks. The elevated position of the bar and restaurant gives great views over the ornamental lake.

DEVON - Smytham Holiday Park, Great Torrington
This is a family-run park set in 33 acres of parkland and surrounded by fields. Because of the parkland location, it is perfect for walking and the Tarka Trail can be accessed directly from the site. Pitches are set in the grounds of the old manor house. There are a variety available, some with hook-ups, some fully serviced and some en-suite with their own facilities in a cedar cabin. Tents can be pitched in the Old Walled Garden which provides shelter and easy access to the outdoor pool. Three camping pods and three timber lodges are also available to hire. On site is a heated amenity block, laundry, shop, bar (seasonal), games room, play area and dog exercise paddock.

DEVON - Ross Park, Newton Abbot
Enjoy a relaxing stay at Ross Park where your four-legged friends are welcome free of charge. Located close to South Devon’s dog-friendly beaches, it offers a range of facilities to cater for all of your doggy needs. Let them run and explore off lead in the spacious dog walking field and cherry orchard. Alternatively, take a wander with your dog on lead around the conservation fields, before washing off muddy paws with the warm dog shower facilities. After your walk, enjoy a cup of coffee or evening meal in the dog-friendly tropical conservatory. After all, dogs are family too!

DEVON - Monkton Wyld Caravan Park, Charmouth
Monkton Wyld Caravan Park welcomes dogs and their happy owners and understand how important your pets are to you. The caravan park provides great facilities including a dog walk and a separate dog paddock where you can let your friend off the lead. For muddy paws they even provide a dog wash! The site stocks dog shampoo, salve for sore paws and dog related gifts in the on-site shop. Off site there are many local open spaces and information is provided on all local dog-friendly beaches and places to enjoy with your family pet.

BERKSHIRE - Hurley Riverside Park, Hurley
This family-run park is located in the picturesque village of Hurley with the riverside towns of Marlow and Henley being in walking distance. Dogs are welcome on the touring and camping park and one of the hire caravan holiday homes is pet friendly. Facilities include heated showers and family shower rooms, free WiFi, shop, laundrette, playground, nature trail, electric car charging points, riverside picnic grounds and slipways. CAMBRIDGESHIRE - Stroud Hill Park, Pidley
Stroud Hill Park is an exclusively adult touring site in Pidley, Cambridgeshire for caravans, motorhomes and tents. The quiet, rural site provides a central Cambridgeshire location. The site has been awarded many industry accolades in recognition of the high standard of the on-site facilities. At the heart of the site is a green oak framed building which houses reception and a restaurant, along with toilets and showers. The facilities are built to be accessible to all. There are 60 fully serviced pitches (hardstanding and grass). Larger units can be accommodated. The site has a three-acre fishing lake and adjacent to the site is an 18-hole golf course. Public footpaths are easily accessible for great dog walking.

NORFOLK - Wyndham Holiday Park, East Runton
Cromer sunrise, sunset and sea views cannot be beaten. The iconic pier is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll with your pet. Watch your pet’s reaction as it notices the sea swirling below. Pet-friendly trails and walks in woods, heath or seaside. Visit pet-friendly pubs, cafés, heritage homes and grounds or sandy beaches with bathing quality water. There are four pet-friendly, modern, comfy, static caravans that are double glazed and gas central heated. Each has a double bedroom and twin single, plus a sofa bed to allow up to six people. Bed linen is provided and beds are made ready for your arrival. Short lets and late availability offers are often available (subject to availability).

HEREFORDSHIRE - Broadmeadow Caravan Park, Ross-on-Wye
Broadmeadow is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Ross-on-Wye. Close to the Forest of Dean, it’s a popular spot for walkers, history lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. The family owned caravan park is situated in a secluded location with dedicated dog walking areas and private lakes. There are grass and hardstanding pitches large enough for RVs, a play area for younger members of the family as well as exclusive adult-only areas. Under new management this year, the resident wardens look forward to welcoming you.

DERBYSHIRE - Pinegroves Country Park, Matlock
Pinegroves Country Park is situated in approximately 23 acres of mature woodland with a variety of trees, rhododendrons and other shrubs. The caravan park is surrounded by open farmland and is just three miles south east of Matlock in Derbyshire. Pinegroves has holiday homes and seasonal touring caravan pitches with access to hook-up and hardstandings. Only around a third of the park is used for caravans and caravan hire, with the remainder being available to stroll through on a woodland walk. Here, you will encounter many squirrels, rabbits and a large number of woodland birds that are local to Derbyshire. Facilities include a shower block and a laundry. Children are permitted with advance notice.

WARWICKSHIRE - Rvierside Park, Stratford-upon-Avon
Situated on the banks of the River Avon, just one mile from Stratford-upon-Avon is Riverside Park. An ideal location for your holiday retreat, whether you wish to spend your time making the most of the facilities or exploring the surrounding Shakespeare country and the Cotswolds. Bring your own caravan or motorhome, hire one of the glamping pods, or indulge in a bit of luxury by staying in one of the modern caravans, lodges or cottages. You’ll find the perfect base for you and your pooch at Riverside Park.

CO DURHAM - Finchale Abbey Touring Park, Durham
An adult-only touring park set in the countryside of County Durham alongside the River Wear and beside the ruins of a Benedictine priory. The site is just four miles from the historic city of Durham. There is fishing available on the river and a local pub and driving range are close by. Hardstanding and grass pitches with electric are available and for a spot of luxury glamping you can choose a camping pod. The pitches have views of the abbey, backed by woodland. On-site facilities include a recently refurbished toilet block along with fully accessible facilities, a farm shop and small café. There’s a dog walking area by the fruit orchard and gorgeous walks along by the river.

CO DURHAM - The Paddock at Robsons, Bishop Auckland
The Paddock is situated alongside the long-established motorhome and caravan dealership in the heart of County Durham. The Paddock has 18 hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up. Facilities include fresh water points, waste water point, chemical disposal point, shower and toilet block and coded security barrier. Dogs and well-behaved owners are very welcome. Access to the river from site and many lovely walks. The Paddock is located a few minutes’ drive from Hamsterly Forest, where miles and miles of walks await you and your dog. Two dog-friendly pubs and outside seating areas at No 10 café and Buon Appettito in Wolsingham.

CUMBRIA - Dandy Dinmont Caravan & Camping Park, Carlisle
Dandy Dinmont is located next to the Reivers cycle route and long-distance Hadrian’s Wall Walk and with easy access to the centre of Carlisle. There’s a bus service every 30 minutes to the city centre where you’ll find a cathedral, castle, museum and art gallery. The site is also close to local shops and amenities. Pitches are level and surrounded by countryside. There are hardstandings with electric serviced by toilet and shower facilities, a laundry and free WiFi. Interestingly, the site gets its name from the terrier breed of dog, as back in the 1960s the site was originally breeding kennels for the Dandie Dinmont Terrier.

NORTHUMBERLAND - Herding Hill Farm Touring, Camping & Glamping Site, Haltwhistle
Award-winning, five-star Herding Hill Farm sits in an idyllic spot, just one mile from Hadrian’s Wall. Stunning views are plentiful here and stargazing is a must! Family and dog friendly, with a playground, petting farm and dog walking area. The luxury, underfloor heated amenities include power showers and baths, drying room, laundry, washing up area and sauna. As well as touring and tent pitches, there are heated Wigwam cabins (some with hot tubs), a luxury 6-berth lodge with hot tub, Belle Tents and Tentipi Tents. There is an onsite shop and a BBQ hut available to hire.

SCOTLAND - Elie Holiday Park, Fife
The best dog friendly holidays in Scotland. Elie Holiday Park is a real hidden gem offering a fine selection of caravan pitches nestled behind the beach on the Fife Coastal Path and close to a myriad of forest walks. It’s also home to the superb dog friendly Mirador Café and takeaway. The touring field is within easy reach of the park’s central hub including the Robinson Crusoe Adventure Park, bar, restaurant, café and games room. With so much to offer it’s no surprise that Elie Holiday Park has been voted as the Best Visitor Attraction in Fife and awarded Scotland’s Best Family Holiday Park runner up. What’s more, dogs can holiday for free!

SCOTLAND - North Ledaig Caravan Park, Argyll
A spectacular seashore location with breathtaking views and conveniently located near to Oban with ferry connections to the islands. North Ledaig is nestled alongside two miles of private sand and shingle beach and around the park you will find a dog walk along the old railway. There is also a small nature trail along the 20-acre area of the moss of Achnacree. Pitches are almost all gravel hardstanding, with specially designated level pitches for motorhomes and pitches for larger units. All pitches have magnificent sea views, and all the front row pitches border the beach with direct access. There are two toilet blocks, a separate disabled room, a parent and baby room, an information room, laundry and dishwashing.

SCOTLAND - Skye Camping & Caravanning Club Site, Isle of Skye
The beautiful campsite in the Isle of Skye is the idyllic location for the most stunning campsite view, pitch up right on the loch shore and take in the glorious views over the water. While enjoying the view pop to the on-site shop where you can find your everyday essentials including freshly laid duck and hen eggs. For adventures why not experience the glamping option, stay in one of the stunning Pods or Yurts for the perfectly different kind of camping holiday.
