WHO’S IT FOR?
For families who take their camping seriously and are willing to invest a bit extra for quality

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
With its sleek lines, chic colour scheme and superior materials, this top-of-the-range inflatable tent from New Zealand-based Zempire certainly looks the part. But is it all style over substance or does it live up to its not inconsiderable price tag? We think it does. First is the spacious front porch area, which comes with a removable groundsheet. This area is ideal for storage and cooking, and the front door, with its large PVC windows, can either be used to create a fully enclosed area or completely removed, depending on the weather. The main living area is accessed through the porch via a large 360 deg double front door that can be zipped fully open. The tent also has two side doors, including one with a rain porch. The doors and windows are a combination of PVC and mesh to maximise the light and ventilation, making the living room more comfortable in hot weather. In fact ventilation is excellent throughout, with vents around the base of the tent that can be pegged closed when it’s cooler. As well as providing a traditional feel and smell to the tent, the polycotton material also tends to be cooler than polyester.  The steep vertical walls create lots of internal living space, providing plenty of space for furniture and storage. There are also mesh storage pockets on the outside of the bedrooms. The rear sleeping area can be divided in two (3+2 set-up) or used as one room and features darkened material to reduce early morning sunlight. A large mesh panel at the rear provides ventilation.

WHAT’S GOOD?
The quality of design and materials overall is exceptional. Lots of space and the front porch is very useful

WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
The price… it’s certainly not a cheap option, but shop around and you should be able to pick it up for less. Either way, treat it as a long-term investment.
