PITCHING
This is a large tent with a heavy pack size but for a unit of this size the Taiga is relatively simple to pitch. It follows the same procedure as any tunnel tent – first lay it out flat then erect the poles one by one, in this case using the supplied pump. Realistically it is easier for two people than one but it is still possible to put it up on your own. The Taiga comes with Vango’s TBS storm straps for additional stability in bad weather.

LIVING
The living room is very bright and spacious with lots of headroom and space to move around.  There are large PVC windows and offset side doors doors plus a front door with a mesh back. The enclosed front porch can be used for cooking (if the door is left open), storage or sitting out on sunny/wet days. Ventilation panels below all the windows and one above the door create a good flow of air aimed at tackling condensation. It does lack storage pockets.

SLEEPING
The darkened bedroom area has three rooms – one totally separate with the other two split by a toggled divider. The bigger rooms have space for a double airbed, while the small room would be better suited for one. The second room can be removed to create more living space. Mesh panels on the doors and at the rear provide more ventilation.

The enclosed front porch is ideal to use as a camping kitchen, but it also provides extra living and storage options Overall the Taiga 600XL is a very good value inflatable tent for a family of four or five.
