OUR VERDICT Compact it may be, but the new polycotton version of the Air Seconds is a cracking tent for smaller groups, with plenty of features designed to make camping life more comfortable. PRICE TBC |

Hugely popular in its native France, Quechua is now one of the most commonly seen tent brands on Britain’s campsites. And there’s a very good reason for that. Not only are Quechua tents innovative, well made and full of features, but they are generally very well priced.
And that combination of functionality and value for money makes them ideal for the family camping market, particularly among those who are taking their first tentative (see what I did there?) steps into camping and are looking for something reliable without spending a fortune.
Last year, the brand launched its first polycotton tent, a six-berth tunnel, and in 2022 the range has been expanded with a new polycotton model that sleeps four.
The Air Seconds 4.2 is a smallish tunnel tent, with a sleeping area at the back, which can be used as one large room or divided into two doubles. Although it’s not as cavernous as some family tents on the market, it provides enough space for a group of four, with room for furniture in the living area.
The bedrooms are darkened to provide some protection from the early morning sun. And the natural cooling properties of the polycotton fabric, combined with extensive ventilation, make this ideal for summer camping.
Another new feature for 2022 is the ‘Easy & Quiet’ magnetic bedroom doors, designed to prevent noisy zips waking up fellow campers during the night.
Storage pockets are fitted in the bedrooms and in the living room and there’s an entry point for an electric hook-up cable.
It also comes with an insulating tent carpet for the living room but disappointingly a pump for the air tubes is not included with the tent and needs to be bought separately.
