WHO’S IT FOR?
For families of up to four who take longer camping holidays and are looking for something near the top of the luxury class

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
Classy and sophisticated… but enough about me. Seriously, the Phantom is a lovely looking tent that also provides everything a family of enthusiastic campers will need for a comfortable week or two away. And this really is aimed at the enthusiast – with a price tag of £1,300 the Phantom is not entry-level, although if you shop around online you will be able to find it for less than £1,000. But the quality here means you are looking at a serious investment rather than an impulse buy. Treat it well and you’re easily looking at a decade of holidays. With one single inflation point, it’s quick and easy to put up. The front porch is big enough to provide shelter (from the rain or sun) for outdoor cooking or an expanded living area. The large front door, with a drop down step, leads into the huge main living space where there’s plenty of space for furniture. The large PVC windows provide plenty of light but are tinted to maintain your privacy – and in the evening they can be covered with the zip-up curtains. The two double bedrooms are at the rear are classed as Royal Master Bedrooms and offer more headroom and floor space than standard sized rooms. The bedroom windows are a unique feature and there are cable entry points to let you bring electricity to the bedroom (ooer, missus!).

WHAT’S GOOD?
The living room and bedrooms are expansive and airy and provide loads of room for camping furniture to let you create the perfect home-away-from-home. The sheltered front porch is ideal for cooking and the general quality of materials and construction is excellent.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
It’s the nature of the beast, but this tent is bulky and heavy so you’ll need plenty of storage space at home and in the car. It’s pricey too, but you’re paying for top quality here. Search online for the best possible price.
