OUTWELL FRANKLIN 3 TENT REVIEW

c734ba72-59ff-4259-956a-1ceed1090312

The perfect tent for weekend getaways and touring trips. An ideal option for couples or solo campers looking for a quality tent that provides space and comfort but is quick and easy to put up.

PRICE  £400

It’s hard to overstate the importance of being able to get away for a couple of nights right now. A quick camping break can relieve the symptoms of cabin fever and give your general wellbeing a huge boost.

But packing that huge six-berth family tent for a weekend escape isn’t ideal and that’s where something like this really comes into its own. Big enough to give you plenty of space to relax comfortably, but quick and simple to pitch and compact enough to easily slot into the car boot.

The Franklin 3 is essentially a poled tent for two adults – with enough space to fit another little person, too. As well as being suited to weekend breaks, the easy pitching makes it perfect for touring.

Don’t think that this is a basic tent, though, as It’s packed with features. The front canopy provides protection from the wind and rain and the large front door can be opened fully or partially, depending on your needs, and it has a secondary mesh door to allow ventilation while keeping out bugs.

The living area is spacious enough for tables and chairs and the huge side window means it’s bright and airy. The tent is fitted with the new Outwell HookTrack System and comes with several clips to let you set up a hanging system for cables and lightweight accessories.

The bedroom will comfortably accommodate a large double airbed or two singles. The 360˚ Access System allows you to open the bedroom door fully, with no trip hazard, opening it out into the living space.

The sleeping area is fitted with mesh storage pockets for stashing small items and an electric hook-up port that allows you to set up electric lights or a fan in the bedroom. The darkened roof and wall panels reduce sunlight entry early in the morning and the large ventilation panel at the rear helps keep the temperature down and reduces condensation.
