PRE ANGLED pole joints ensure that campers using the Florida 5 enjoy the maximum amount of headroom up to the wall. Combine this with that green/grey/black trim and you have the typical Outwell family tunnel that is much loved by British campers.

Four steel poles support the tent while a fifth is used for the porch. The outer has two large windows located in each sidewall. A storm-cowl protected vent tops each window and two similar vents, along the ubiquitous rear vent, back onto the inner tents.

A further window slants across each side of the porch. These allow a little extra light to fall on the tent’s two front windows and that huge panoramic window set into the front door – as well as providing you with side vision when sitting under cover. The porch sports a skirt to cut down the wind entering under the walls, and two wardrobe bars – great for drying the swimming cosies. The inner tent has a hanging bar, too...

As you step into the tent you are confronted by Outwell’s funky new striped inner tents, complete with organiser pockets. Like most Outwell family tents, the versatile inners can be used in a number of ways – including unzipping and folding up one side to create more living space.

The inners hold two more surprises. First, you can check the weather from your sleeping bag by unzipping half-moon curtains to provide access to ground level windows set in the outer. Second, the left hand bedroom has access to a simple rear door set in the outer – it is always handy to have a fire exit in a family tent!

Camping says I love the new striped interior – it quickly gets you into the holiday spirit and conjures up images of traditional seaside holidays. Camping is all about fun and such little touches bring a smile to your face.

Outwell has firmly cemented itself at the top of the family camping tree. It is even more amazing to see the company not just sell the tents, but also all of the coordinated accessories that include, if you did not already think the tent is big enough, awnings and extensions!
