WHAT’S IT LIKE?
One of the biggest dilemmas for tent-buyers at the moment is whether to go for air or pole models. The convenience and simplicity of pitching an inflatable is undeniable but they are still bulkier and heavier than similar-sized pole tents. And for the price-conscious among us, inflatables are generally more expensive than their traditionally-framed equivalents. A similar Outwell tent to the Collingwood 500 would probably be around £700, which means at least £150 extra to spend on accessories!

Pitching is easy. Simply lay it out flat, peg out the corners, slide the poles into the correct sleeves and then lift into place. After a few test runs, two people should be able to have it fully pitched and guyed out in 15 minutes. The front porch has large windows at the sides and on the front door and can be kept fully enclosed or left open. This is a useful space, handy for storing outdoor gear or for using as a kitchen area. It leads through to the main living area; you can leave the connecting door fully open and tucked away to create one large space, or keep it closed to separate it from the front porch. Either way, it’s a bright and airy room, with enough room for a table and chairs. The side door provides optional access and can be zipped open on hot days. The windows are all tinted for more privacy during the day and come with toggle-up curtains for evenings.

The two Premier bedrooms at the rear will sleep five people and the divider can be removed to create one large space. The bedroom doors have mesh ventilation panels and there’s a large panel at the rear to create a good air flow through the sleeping area. The bedrooms have cable entry ports, which is a nice touch, allowing you to have electrical items in the sleeping area as well as the living room.

WHAT’S GOOD?
Plenty of versatile living space; good quality; excellent value for money; easy to pitch
