PITCHING
The Crossover’s unusual shape makes it look complicated but actually it is easy to pitch. The two upright steel poles provide the main body of the tent with its height and basic structure and another couple of metal poles for the integral front porch.

LIVING
The large front porch area is an ideal area for cooking – the huge front door can be zipped open along with the mesh-backed side doors to create an almost completely open sun canopy, or closed up to protect from the elements. The tinted windows let in plenty of light but also reduce glare and provide some privacy. At night, you can stop people peering inside by closing the embossed zipped curtains. A second large door leads through into the main living room, where there is low and high level ventilation and a skylight to provide more light.

SLEEPING
The inner-tent at the rear can be used as either two double bedrooms or, by removing the divider, converted into one large room. The darkened material is designed to stop you (and especially your kids!) from being wakened by bright sunlight early in the morning.

OUR VIEW
With its bell-tent appearance, the Crossover has a decidedly retro look about it but don’t think that means it’s not using bang up-to-date technology and materials. The 420-Denier flysheet provides endurance and strength and even if it does tear, the double ripstop fabric reduces the spread of damage. We also like the unique Phoenix Mesh on the doors. It’s a “smart” material that effectively repairs itself and returns to its original form if it snags. Overall this is a smart tent for family breaks or as a spacious and comfortable base for couples.
