WHO’S IT FOR?
Couples or young families trying out camping for the first time.
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
In these days of large, multi-room tents, the Pavonis 400 is quite unusual in its simplicity. It’s a dome tent comprising one room for sleeping and living, with a front porch area where you can set up a cooker under shelter. The tent is basically a single skin model, with a removable half fly sheet that covers the mesh panels in the roof. The fly is pegged out with guylines and attached to the poles with Velcro, but in hot, dry weather it can be easily removed to provide extra ventilation. The large front door has a mesh panel that supplies even more ventilation.
With just one room, space in the Pavonis 400 is obviously limited, but it’s a perfect tent for weekend getaways during the summer. The pre-shaped fibreglass poles do create a sense of space in the inner and the canopy provides an additional outdoor living area. There’s no getting away from the fact that you’re limited to one room, but what you lose in space you gain in convenience – it’s both simple to pitch and packs away small, so fits easily in the smallest car boot. Other features include an organiser pocket and lantern hanging point.
Where the Pavonis 400 really scores is on price. It’s available for around £150 on the Easy Camp website but shop around – we’ve seen it online for less than £120, which makes it excellent value for money.
