Ideal for festivals, fishing trips or overnight stops, the Meteor 3000 is a back-to-basics tent for couples or single campers. Don’t be fooled by the budget price – there’s still plenty here for your money.
If you’re looking for a budget tent for a festival, to use as an overnight shelter for sporting events or even as a pup tent for teenagers who want a bit of privacy, it can be tempting to pick up a cheap and cheerful supermarket model. Yes, the price is attractive, especially when you compare it with what looks like something very similar costing five or six times as much. But beware. In reality you get what you pay for – a £20 tent is likely to be flimsy and not particularly waterproof.
A far better option is to go for something like this. At £85 it’s not too expensive, but it is reliable, well made, double-skinned for more protection from the weather, and really easy to pitch.
The 2,000mm hydrostatic head rating may not be spectacular but it should be perfectly sufficient for most of what the UK weather can throw at it.
There’s no standing room inside, but it still has a decent amount of space and head height, while the small front porch is useful for gear storage.
Two vents at the apex of the dome provide ventilation for those hot, sunny mornings on the festival site and there’s a storage pocket inside for stashing small items like phones and wallets.
