WHO’S IT FOR?
Couples and young families looking for a comfortable, spacious tent for weekend getaways
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
With the number of inflatable tents on the market these days, you could be forgiven for thinking that the traditional poled tent has had its day. But nothing could be further from the truth, as the Coleman Mackenzie 4 Coleman proves. The steel poles provide stability and generous head-height to ensure maximum comfort. It’s also really easy and quick to pitch, which is the probably the key attribute in a tent for shorter breaks. This is a tent that has been designed to make life outdoors as relaxing as possible, with an extensive range of features, including BlackOut Bedrooms which block out 99.9% of natural light.
For a compact, weekend tent, the Mackenzie 4 is spacious for living and the XXL bedrooms comfortably sleep four people. It features two large doors, one with a peak for rain protection, whilst its triple layer windows (mesh/PVC/curtain) offer ventilation and interior temperature control. There’s plenty of space for furniture so it is a perfect refuge on wet days. The easy to pitch, sturdy steel pole construction ensures maximum protection from winds, with a 4,500mm hydrostatic head on the flysheet. With good head height, it’s great for taller campers too. Other features include a zippable rear vent, accessible from inside the bedroom for plenty of ventilation.
The award-winning blackout bedrooms are still a great feature. Easy to pitch and feels sturdy. Good living space and large bedrooms.
