What’s the Coleman Castle Pines 6L like?

If the heated discussions that regularly take place on social media are anything to go by, many campers still prefer traditional poled tents over inflatables. So it’s good to know they’ve not been abandoned by manufacturers. The new Castle Pines range from Coleman is a collection of poled, family tents. Comfortable and spacious, they come with all the features you’d expect from a high-spec tent – and the six-berth 6L is the flagship of the range.

First impressions matter and with its striking blue, grey and bright yellow colour scheme, the Castle Pines certainly offers something a bit different. The 6L features a large front porch which leads into the spacious main living area. A drop-down groundsheet at the entrance removes the trip hazard and makes access easier for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

The living room is bright and airy with large PVC windows and high and low ventilation, to improve air flow. The grey material on the roof also makes it light inside. In total contrast are the award-winning BlackOut Bedrooms. Popular with families with young children, the extra-large rooms feature a specially treated material which blocks up to 99% of daylight. Not only does it keep early morning sunshine out but also helps regulate the temperature. Coleman says it keeps the bedrooms up to five degrees cooler in the day, and one degree warmer at the night.

You can also remove one of the bedrooms to increase storage and living space if the extra sleeping pod is not needed. Zipper stoppers on the tent doors ensure that zips are always within easy reach in an emergency, even for children.

What’s good about the Coleman Castle Pines 6L?

The extra-large BlackOut Bedrooms are ideal for young children; The front porch provides good additional covered living space; Great value for money
