Trethem Mill Touring Park wins award
Family-run park wins Camping & Caravanning gold awardAfter collecting a gold award from VisitEngland and a Conservation Award from David Bellamy earlier in the year, the touring park, based in St. Just-in-Roseland, Cornwall, has struck gold again. This time it’s the top, gold award from the 2014 Cornwall Tourism Awards for a Camping & Caravanning Park, which is the eighth time in 13 years that the site has won it. The awards aim to highlight the outstanding aspects and customer service within the tourism industry. The judges’ commented, “This park is a labour of love for a family that clearly research the very best ideas each year, learn from them and apply ideas that are at least as good for Trethem Mill.”
A raft of improvements have been made over the years include the construction of luxury shower and wash rooms, all with underfloor heating. As well as a pick-your-own herb garden, there is a park shop focussing on local produce, including artisan bread, Cornish sausages and bacon, and beers and ciders brewed in the county.
Jane Akeroyd, of Trethem Mill, said that 2014 had been a whirlwind of a year for the Park, both in terms of visitor numbers and the awards it has received, "By far the majority of our guests are now either repeat visitors, or people coming as a result of a recommendation, which helps create a lovely atmosphere on the park."
