The eagerly awaited release of the Beatrix Potter film across Japan in September is expected to send visitors flocking to the Lake District.Cumbria Tourism and the Lake District Japan Forum are hoping the new biopic starring Reneé Zellweger in the lead role will create thousands of new fans of the children’s author in Japan, and inspire existing ones to plan a holiday to the county.
To prepare for the expected demand in inquiries from Japanese people wanting to know all about the author and the film, the Japan Office of the national tourism body, VisitBritain, has translated thousands of copies of Cumbria Tourism’s specially made Miss Potter Movie Map into Japanese so visitors can plan holidays and visits to the locations used in the film
The map has been devised to help visitors find their way around the county and plot what locations and attractions they want to visit. It will be made available on a special tourism website, www.visitmisspotter.com and VisitBritain’s Japanese website www.visitbritain.com/jp
