THOUGHT camping was all soggy sleeping bags and tins of beans? Then think again. Campsites, tents and equipment have really evolved over the last few years and now camping can be a really great experience for all the family.

If you’ve never tried campsite camping before and think you’d like to have a go then this taster session might be the perfect way to get started.  Ultimate outdoors have teamed up with Vango and the caravan and camping club to offer a unique opportunity.

As part of the first Keswick Mountain Festival (www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk) Ultimate Outdoors are offering campsite camping taster sessions on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May. Campers will stay on the award-winning camping and caravan club site on the shore of Derwentwater, just a couple of minutes from the centre of town. There will be ten groups of up to nine camping each night which should provide a great atmosphere.

Groups will meet at Ultimate Outdoors on heads road in Keswick at 3pm on the Friday or Saturday. Each group will test the latest Vango tent, sleeping bags, cooking equipment, furniture and other accessories. Camping experts will meet you in store and provide introductory talks about the equipment and provide top hints and tips for a happy camping experience.

At the campsite you will be allocated a space and can have a go at pitching your tent. Experts will be there to lend a hand if needed. The taster session will involve an overnight stay and camping food will be provided by Wayfarer Foods.

It couldn’t be easier to book your place simply visit www.ultimateoutdoors.co.uk and follow the links. Tickets are £20 for adults and £10 for children. This includes one night's free camping and a sleeping bag worth £35rrp to keep. Upon booking you will receive a full information pack and also be in with the chance to win all the equipment you try out. That’s over £500 worth of camping goodies. For more details visit the website or call the Keswick store on 01768 774422 and ask to speak to a member of staff about the festival.
