NEW figures show that The Camping and Caravanning Club experienced one of its most successful Easter bank holidays on record.

The club saw a 50% rise in occupancy rates at its 109 UK club sites over the Easter weekend.

Sites Director Bob Hill was understandably delighted with the increase in those campers and caravanners plumping for bargain British breaks.

He said: “There has been a considerable upturn in interest since the turn of the year with advanced bookings up nearly a third on last year and these latest figures only help demonstrate the fact that camping and caravanning is becoming all the more popular.

“People, in particular families, do have this perception now that if money is tight, then why not holiday in this country and help the local economy.”

He added: “These figures are very encouraging and we are confident that this interest will continue to grow as the summer season approaches.

“This really is going to be the year of the U-Kation!”
