Pull me a pint and make it a good’un

A decent pitch with appropriate hook-ups and a clean loo block – what else is essential for a positive campsite experience?

One thing might be the quality of the beer available, so bar staff at Vauxhall Holiday Park near Great Yarmouth have undergone ‘Pint Perfection' training to enable them to satisfy customer demands for a decent pint.

Heineken offers the training programme to bar staff across the UK, and the Vauxhall team was one of the first to be complete it. The course focuses on pouring techniques, glassware, storage, and overall customer experience.

Ben Ludbrook, food and beverage manager at Vauxhall Holiday Park, observes: "There is more to pulling a pint than just tilting the glass. We have over 30,000 people attending our music events throughout the year and they tend to be in the party mood and want to enjoy the odd beer.

“The head stops the bubbles that contain carbon dioxide escaping, which can spoil the taste and give the appearance of a flat pint. A properly-poured head will remain throughout the whole pint for great taste every sip. The team were all interested to learn the science behind the perfect pour and, as they all passed, they will now deliver a perfect pint every time!"
