New scheme offers private sites for a taste of wild camping
A new scheme called Wild With Consent has been launched to help connect campervanners and motorhomers with landowners who have secluded, beautiful locations to offer as temporary sites.
The start-up gives campervanners and motorhomers the opportunity to stay in wild, private places with the landowner’s consent.
The scheme was launched after founder Grace Fell and her parents enjoyed travelling around Scotland in their campervan, taking advantage of the right to roam to stay in some stunning wild locations.
However, when they returned to their home county of Northumberland, such locations were no longer available. Grace says: “Having grown up in Northumberland I know such places exist, as we are fortunate to have friends with some beautiful property.”
Thus, Wild With Consent was born with a mission to help motorhomers and campervanners who want to stay off-grid to connect with farmers and landowners.
The pitches are only offered to those travelling in a self-contained motorhome or campervan who are on the hunt for a special adventure.
“The size of the motorhome depends on the location –some can take large vans/motorhomes, but most are suitable for small or medium-sized vehicles (8m or shorter in length),” explains Grace. “There is no membership or upfront cost, just a charge per night which varies according to the location.”
The sites are only available to one campervan or motorhome per night to maintain privacy, and campers are required to adhere to wild camping guidelines to maintain the ethos of ‘leave no trace’.
“Wild With Consent wants to help people explore and enjoy the British countryside responsibly, so conscious camping and being sensitive to our natural surroundings are at the heart of this new business venture,” said Grace.
