New multi-million pound campsite breaks ground
The ground has been cut to mark the development of a new super campsite at the edge of Shrewsbury. The new campsite, being developed by Salop leisure, is expected to cost £3.5million and will include a wellness centre and spa facilities.
The new campsite will offer 120 touring pitches with views of the Wrekin and South Shropshire Hills. Facilities will include a natural swimming pool, , spa type facilities with a pilates and yoga instruction studio, gym, wooden play area, campfire pit, fishing pool, wildlife area, dog walking paths, cycle track and electric car charging point. The reception building will house the café and decking overhanging one of the pools.
Activities will also be on offer for all the family, including those specifically aimed at children or adults. And, if guest want to explore the local area then, as well as Shrewsbury and its cathedral, the National Trust’s grand Attingham Park, Wroxeter Roman Vineyard and Ironbridge are all close by.
And as it’s right next door to the Salop’s main motorhome and caravan dealership, any buyers might choose to use the site to familiarise themselves with their new purchase, with the expertise of the salesmen and workshop right next door, before going on a big trip.
Mark Bebb, Salop’s Managing Director, hopes the new campsite will raise the bar for five-star campsites. This has already been accepted as an affiliated site of the Caravan Club.
It is hoped that the new site will open in spring 2017.
