National Feast of Lanterns goes international

The Camping and Caravanning Club’s annual rally, the National Feast of Lanterns (NFOL), has received the support of the Federation Internationale de Camping, Caravanning et Autocaravanning (FICC) for the first time in its history.

The four-day event, which will be held at Anglesey Agricultural Showground from 28 August to 1 September 2014, is now open to both Camping and Caravanning Club members and members of the FICC – encouraging holidaymakers from across the world to join in and celebrate the nation’s favourite hobby for the first time.

The FICC represents 56 federations and clubs from 32 countries through and represents, protects and promotes camping at national and international level.

And there’s plenty for attendees to enjoy throughout the four-day rally! This year, the NFOL has an annual events theme, which will see thousands of campers get into the spirit of  things by donning fancy dress.

This year’s NFOL will also be the first for the Club’s new President, Julia Bradbury, when she will be taking part in the opening ceremony and cooking-up a feast with the Club’s Eat Local Ambassador, Ali Ray.

The NFOL is the world’s largest annual rally of its kind, catering for all forms of camping. The first rally was held in 1922 and even in its present format; it continues to uphold its traditions with a Mardi Gras parade and a lighting up ceremony to mark the flagship event.
