The annual Camping magazine awards are the time for us to reward the best of the best, the new tents that have made the biggest impression on us over the last few months and the ones that we think will make a big improvement to your camping life in the coming year year.

For 2019, our team has inspected and tested dozens of tents, to help you decide how to spend your hard-earned cash. Choosing between all the great gear out there is always a difficult task, but some products do stand out from the rest and in our quest to find the best we’ve taken into account value for money, innovation, versatility and good old fashioned usefulness.

Catch up on some of the best tents for 2021 in The Essential Guide to 2021 Camping, which has been created by the Camping magazine team. Order your copy here.

Now it's time to announce the 2019 winners. And for the first time ever, New Zealand-based brand Zempire has won the overall Tent of The Year award for its Aero TXL Pro Polycotton, as well as the award for Best Luxury Tent.

Camping magazine editor Iain Duff said: "For sheer luxury camping it really doesn’t get any better than this. After arriving in this country from New Zealand a few years ago, Zempire has steadily been gaining a foothold in the upper end of the UK camping market. And for us, this is their best tent yet, combining innovative design with top-of-the-range materials and practical features. The overall package is pretty special, making this a serious choice for ardent campers looking for the ultimate in style and comfort."

The other category winners are:

BEST LARGE FAMILY TENT
OUTWELL STONE LAKE 7ATC

BEST COMPACT FAMILY TENT
OUTDOOR REVOLUTION AIREDALE 5S

BEST INFLATABLE TENT
VANGO TAHITI 800XL

BEST WEEKEND/TOURING TENT
