Getting your little terras outdoors

PARENTS worried about taking their children camping can get great advice and products from Little Terra.

The specialist retailer is dedicated to helping children and their families enjoy, explore and learn about the outdoors. Launched in May this year as the website littleterra.co.uk, it now has its first high street store open in Derby.

Little Terra has arrived at a time when the need to encourage children outdoors is receiving increasing prominence.

A recent survey by the National Trust highlighted the fact that many youngsters could identify sci-fi characters but could not identify a magpie. Nursery schools in Wales have started the new school year with a curriculum that includes outdoor classes and experience of the environment.

The shop and website are targeted at children up to the age of ten and they have a whole range of quality clothing and gear to kit out children for the outdoors, whether they are playing in the garden, or out camping, or on the beach.

But the Little Terra concept is about more than being a clothes shop – one of its main drivers is getting children to learn about the world around them and develop their interests in the outdoors. Its product range includes educational games and toys to encourage and enthuse youngsters and the Little Terra website is building a bank of outdoor activities that children and families can try.

Terra Nova directors, Carolyn Budding and Andy Utting, have set up the company. Terra Nova and Wild Country equipment will be well known to Camping readers for its technical lightweight merits.
