FOREST Holidays has announced an extended programme of Forest Ranger led nature and discovery walks for the 2009 season.

Among the activities offered at all Forest Holidays sites, apart from Thorpe in East Anglia, are:

Dusk Watch - an opportunity to enjoy the forest at dusk, when it becomes a mysterious place with a cast of nocturnal creatures totally different from daytime. These include bats, moths, owls and many more. and you’ll use a bat-detector to seek out the bats using ultra-sonic echo location technology.

Amazing Animals - a wildlife safari to discover the animals that are a part of the forest’s eco-system and the role that each of them plays.

Forest Survival - essential survival skills including den building and orienteering.

Young Explorers - fun activities for younger site visitors including crafts and games based on the natural environment.

Rove with a Ranger - Forest Holidays’ Rangers share with you their knowledge and experience of their own patch. Led by them, you’ll see things you would normally miss on your own.

Into the Wild - a half day walk that ventures beyond the boundaries to the hidden wonders of the natural environment.

There is a small charge for these activities and a 50% discount is available for activities booked and paid for at least two weeks in advance through the Forest Holidays reservations team.

The company recommends that holidaymakers book these activities in advance due to their popularity.
