Childhood friends create "the ultimate sleeping bag"

A pair of childhood friends who have developed a revolutionary sleeping bag system have vowed to donate one bed to charity for every 20 they sell to the public.

Entrepreneurs Adam Yaffe and Mikey Donn have just launched their product, the Chedbag, on crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

Together, the duo, from Manchester, have more than 20 years’ experience working with some of the biggest names in retail, including the likes of Disney and Nickelodeon.

Their vision was to create the simplest, quickest and most comfortable night’s sleep possible while away camping, on holiday or at music festivals.

Adam and Mikey describe it as the “closest thing you’re going to get to a your bed at home” while in the great outdoors - or just staying over at friends' or relatives’.

“At the same time as creating something truly unique, we wanted to make sure we were giving something back,” the pair explained.

“That’s why we decided that for every 20 Chedbags we sell, one will be given away to a good cause like a local charity or children’s home.

“They could even be sent abroad to help people in disaster-hit parts of the world, like in Puerto Rico following the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.”

"We see it as the evolution of camping, camp beds and sleeping on the go,” said designer Adam.

“Even when you’re camping or at a music festival, comfort is important, and this is about as close as you’re going to get to your bed at home.

“Nobody likes the stress of squeezing all the air out of an air bed in a desperate attempt to make it fit back inside its bag.

“The Chedbag is lightweight and compact, its built-in trolley handle and backpack straps make it easily portable.

“It is waterproof, and converts into a comfortable chair or bed anytime, anywhere.

“Once packed away, the junior bag is small enough to be used as cabin baggage on most airlines, and fits most cupboards at home.

“This makes it perfect for saving money by increasing the capacity of a hotel room when you’re travelling with small children.

“As well as being easy to transport, you can also make enough space for three nights’ worth of clothes.”

The Chedbag can be used both indoors and outdoors - like on overnight fishing trips, or at music festivals.

Unzipping the bag allows the foam mattress to flip out into a bed, with a sleeping bag fully-intergraded into the design.

There are two different chair options depending on size and comfort requirements.

The foam mattress has a wipe clean cover and detachable sleeping bag and pillow, which are machine washable.

Mikey said: “We’ve been working with some big names for a long time, but thought Chedbag would be the ideal product to launch on Kickstarter - where we can showcase all its benefits and features.

“We’re really excited about the product, and our vision to create the simplest, quickest and most comfortable solution for sleeping on the move."
