Camping magazine launch annual awards for 2010

The UK’s only magazine dedicated to life under canvas has launched its annual awards to recognise the hard work and innovation that goes into improving the camping experience.

As part of its 50th birthday celebrations in 2010, Camping magazine, in association with The Camping and Caravanning Club, has brought together a judging panel of top camping journalists and readers to seek out those manufacturers and campsites worthy of a Camping Award.

Nominees for an award are judged on a number of criteria that include: value for money; quality of service materials, build and specification; innovation and originality; excellence of design and styling, safety as well as price.

Categories encompass the best in family tents, tourers, lightweight tents, back-packing tents, folding campers, trailer tents, cooking equipment, furniture, sleeping gear, jackets, footwear, clothes, rucksacks, accessories, best buy, and best overall winner. There will also be a Best Campsite award voted for by Camping readers.

Camping magazine editor, Clive Garrett, says: "There are so many people who are dedicated to making a camper’s life as pleasant and as safe as possible. And their work is an important aspect to a holiday’s success and in creating happy memories. Camping magazine is in the ideal position to do something to recognise their efforts."

The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Marketing & Communications Director Matthew Eastlake added: "The Camping and Caravanning Club plays an important role within the outdoor industry, providing a valuable service to active campers and caravanners.

"We want to continue to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors and enjoy that same enthusiasm that we feel for it; that’s why we are fully supportive of Camping magazine’s annual awards."

The Camping Awards winners are to be announced in the March 2010 issue of Camping, on sale 4th February 2010. Subscribe safely and securely online to the magazine by clicking here.
