It’s every camper’s dream to find the perfect pitch away from the crowds.

But not many would go to the extreme of putting up their tent 420ft in the air in the middle of a US desert.

As these pictures posted on Facebook show, that’s exactly what champion slackliner Andy Lewis and 11 friends did when they built their own “midair campsite' in Moab, Utah

Daredevil Lewis, from San Fransisco, even slept in the MSR tent overnight with his fiancee Hayley Ashburn

The system was connected on the ground and hauled into the air.

Lewis, 26, told newspapers how he and his fiancée enjoyed a romantic night high above the ravine.

He said: “I brought out dinner, pillows, beer, smokes, and movies. We had a wonderfully romantic and incredibly memorable and beautiful night.”
