Camping Travel Store 2020

8ee4f76d-1471-4156-8626-ca85e96ab13c

Hertfordshire-based Camping Travel Store, the UK’s Dutch tent specialist, is opening a new camping shop and showroom in February 2020. It will be a showcase for the brands, Karsten, De Waard, ESVO and Outstanding safari tents.

Their ranges of lifetime 100% cotton canvas tents, handmade from sustainable materials have enjoyed a steady growth over the past decade.

The last four years have seen the iconic Karsten air tent range win multiple awards in the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Owner Satisfaction Awards, picking up honours for Best Inflatable Tent, Best Lifetime Tent and Best Premium Tent Range.

For 2020, Camping Travel Store will have a permanent indoor display of its most popular models at the new showroom in the village of Melbourn, near Cambridge, together with a large tent display during the main season.

Camping Travel Store owners, Suzie and James King, will also be showcasing the Human Comfort brand of camping furniture and accessories at the new showroom.

SHOWCASE

De Waard Great Spotted Woodpecker

For over 70 years, Dutch tent manufacturer, De Waard, has produced tents of exceptional quality, carefully selecting the best and most sustainable raw materials. They are lovingly made by craftsmen, largely by hand, and this combination of the best materials and a traditional production process make the tents extremely strong.

It is the same love that a camping enthusiast feels when they take their De Waard tent on new adventures. Due to the high quality and long service life, a De Waard is not just a tent, but a tent for life. It is the place where you see your children grow up, where you have good conversations, where love is born, where you decide to completely change your life and where you enjoy your old age. You don’t use a De Waard, you live it. And, whether you travel around the world with your tent or are at the same campsite every year, when you hear the zipper open it feels like coming home.

This classic-looking pyramid tent has a surface area of 8m² and consists of one large compartment, allowing it to be arranged flexibly. The pole of the tent is placed slightly off-centre, which provides extra space in the tent. The entrance height of the tent is 195cm. Depending on the layout and equipment, it can accommodate between two and four people. The fixed awning is small, but can be expanded with an optional tarp which is large enough to sit under.

Karsten 380 Air

When the Karsten tent was invented in 1981, a new carefree style of camping started. No more hassle with poles – tents could be up within five minutes! The Karsten tent stands out for its convenience, comfort, sturdy construction and excellent ventilation, not to mention the unique high-pressure inflation system. The tents are handmade from the best materials at the Karsten workshop in the Netherlands and stand solid as a rock!

The Karsten 380 is the largest inflatable tent in the range and can comfortably sleep six in three separate bedrooms. There is a choice of colours and different awning configurations available to tailor the tent to suit your style of camping, whether it be a couple of nights touring to a fortnight in the south of France.

Karsten Lacerta

This is a surprisingly versatile family poled tunnel tent that has the added option of an additional front wall and groundsheet to extend the living area in bad weather or to just have an open living space with the awning on the warmer days.

As you would expect from a Karsten, the material, fittings and overall style of the tent screams quality and, although covered by a five-year warranty, if looked after, it will last a lifetime.

There are some funky, new, innovative features in this family-sized Karsten not seen in others, including zip-in cupboards that maximise space, and, although Karsten tents do not have dedicated inners, the dividers to separate the bedrooms now follow the line of the roof, ensuring the bedrooms can be totally closed off.

This is an awesome family tent that is quick to strike camp due to the zip-in outer poles and will withstand any weather thrown at it. The TenCate Cotton canvas material will keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer due to its 100% breathability.
