Camping Magazine Awards 2020: Best Tent Innovation
Outwell Quick & Quiet inner doors
Back in 2017 we ran an article on this website about five camping things that need to be invented and top of the list was silent zips.
Several times a night the peace and tranquility of the campsite is shattered by that familiar ziiiiiip sound as another camper ventures out of their tent to the loo.
It seems that the designers at Outwell were paying attention. Among the numerous new features introduced in 2020 tents are Quick & Quiet inner doors, which use magnets for silent access to bedrooms.
The inner doors feature a magnetic strip that runs down the centre and can be opened and closed easily without a sound with just one hand. Like all great inventions, it’s simple and massively practical and frankly we can’t believe it’s not been thought of before.
Quechua MH500 Fresh&Black
A brilliant idea for those of us who like the concept of pop-up tents but just can’t work out how to get them back into the bag. The MH500 is an instant tent with a new style of fast assembly using drawstrings that allows you to pitch or pack in under a minute.
Outdoor Revolution Double Side Annexe
A really clever idea that lets you increase the capacity of your tent without eating into the living space or dramatically increasing the footprint. The sewn-in side annexe sits alongside the main body of the tent, has external and internal doors and only uses a tiny amount of extra pitch space.
