Resipole Farm Caravan & Camping Park

97ae1105-8625-4ed1-9d50-f7eff66e288a
AT Resipole Farm Caravan and Camping Park, in Argyll, caravans and motorhomes alike are welcome. The site is beautifully maintained, too, with smooth access roads, excellent hardstanding pitches and superbly manicured grass.

The washrooms are small, but well-maintained, and there’s ample hot water. There’s a well-stocked shop about 15 minutes down the road, too. Oh, and did we mention that the views out over Loch Sunart and Gearr Chreag are the stuff of poetry?

If you are in the habit of frequenting sites not just far from the proverbial Madding Crowd, but several light years away, then this one is as remote as they come. Getting there is, in essence, a matter of heading due north-west to Corran, just down the coast from Fort William, taking the ferry across to Ardgour and then heading due west to Resipole, but if that sounds easy, it isn’t. Resipole is, it’s safe to say, one remote campsite.

It’s a good one, though, and well worth the effort. In the main, this is due to its thoroughly romantic location on the shores of Loch Sunart, within sight of the majestic peaks of Beinn Ghormaig and Meall a Bhroin on the opposite shore. Whatever the weather here (and it gets all sorts), the views never cease to amaze and enchant. No wonder most caravans are pitched facing the loch. Facilities-wise, you might expect such a remote place to be somewhat light on on-site niceties, but you’d be wrong.

Quite apart from the small, but immaculately-tended amenities block, where free hot showers, and clean loos / washing areas await you, there’s easy access to sailing on the Loch.

Even more remarkably, Resipole Farm boasts its own art gallery. This only opened in 2005 but it’s already got a whole gamut of popular and successful exhibitions under its belt.
