Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Site
Lee Valley Park is a huge rural idyll on the outskirts of London, with lots of waterside locations and green spaces where there are endless recreational opportunities such as walking, biking, water sports and fishing. The park follows the course of the River Lea (Lee) through the Lea Valley from Ware in Hertfordshire to finish at the East India Dock Basin on the Thames.
It also has three modern and well run campsites with excellent glamping opportunities. The closest to the city itself is Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park at Edmonton which is just a 15 minute drive from junction 26 of the M25.
This site is open all year and has 12 comfortable “cocoons” and cabins to choose from. The cocoons have a double bed or bed settee and folding campbed, are fully heated and have electric lighting. The cabins are even more luxurious, with a TV, fridge, microwave and hotplate. For both options you bring your own bedding.
Travelling by public transport to central London is easy from this site. Buses can be caught from outside the site that will connect you to Edmonton Green Station, with frequent trains into London Liverpool Street. Cheap day travel passes are available.
A bus ride all the way into central London from here will take close to an hour. Or you can do it much quicker by train and tube. Facilities on the site are very good – the showers and toilets are neat and tidy and the site well kept. Access to Lee Valley Park is very close by so you can easily combine your city break with a rural theme too.
