Campsite of the Month: Ulwell Holiday Park, Dorset

cacebd8e-f429-4c82-8043-8a80248337af

A few minutes from the breathtaking Dorset coastline, Ulwell Holiday Park sits pretty in an idyllic spot surrounded by beautiful English countryside.

Its location provides fabulous views of the rolling Purbeck Hills. And it’s a wonderful base to explore all that this hugely popular area has to offer – including the famous Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Plan a holiday here and you can be sure that you’ll never be short of places to explore and things to do… but it’s not just about the location.

Facilities at Ulwell are top-notch, especially for young campers, with an indoor swimming pool, recreational field and outdoor adventure play park to keep kids occupied all day.

The site also has a restaurant and bar with an outdoor patio area, called the Village Inn.

The restaurant serves cooked breakfasts and evening meals and there’s also a takeaway service during high season. The site shop sells food, drink and camping essentials.

The large grass camping pitches are spacious and level, with electric hook-up. The site also offers smaller pitches for backpacking tents and there’s an all-weather pitch with bark chippings.

Alternatively, if you fancy trying a spot of glamping, you can leave the tent at home and book the wooden camping pod instead.

The coastal walking in this corner of Dorset is spectacular and, inland, the Purbeck Hills beckon. And then there’s the ruin of Corfe Castle, sitting spectacularly in a gap in the hills, and the pretty village nestled in its shadow.

Ulwell Holiday Park is just a mile from Swanage Beach where the clear waters have earned it Blue Flag status and the gentle slope of the shore makes it ideal for swimming.

Swanage also hosts a number of events including a fish festival, arts weeks, and a carnival and regatta.
