Set in the Kent countryside, glamping at Broadhembury offers the best of both worlds; for parents holidaying with children or couples looking for a quiet, romantic break.

Family glamping Lotus Belle tents accommodate up to four people and are handily located within their own private spaces, close to the park’s main facilities and play areas.

The cosy family tents are equipped with a halogen ceiling heater and lamps for lighting, plus full-size beds with mattresses and duvets and a large living area. Outside you’ll find your own barbecue and picnic table for al fresco dining, as well as a Swingball set for family fun and games.

The site, in the village of Kingsnorth, also includes a dedicated adults-only area, the Meadows, for those who prefer a bit extra in terms of peace and quiet. The adult Belle tents are situated in secluded corner positions of the park and have wood-burning stoves for cooking and heating. They are just a short walk away from the main facilities, but for convenience, each Belle tent has its own toilet tent complete with lighting.

Locally there are plenty of country lanes for cycling or walking, with picturesque villages and ancient towns in-between and Leeds Castle, Folkestone and Chapel Down Winery within 30 minutes. Lighting on site is kept to a minimum meaning Broadhembury is perfect for some night-time stargazing.

The site is also handy for trips into London – it’s just over half an hour to the capital on the train from Ashford. Broadhembury has a five-star grading from VisitEngland and is a member of the Best of British group of family-owned campsites.

• See over 700 rare and endangered animals, including Kent’s only giraffe, at Port Lympne safari park, near Ashford
• Just five minutes away from the site is the McArthur Glen outlet mall, great for discount designer shopping

EATING OUT
There are lots of traditional village pubs near the holiday park, with the Queen’s Head at Kingsnorth within easy walking distance, serving lunch and dinner with locally sourced produce and cask ales. The Woolpack Inn at Brookland in the heart of Romney Marsh, dates back more than 600 years and is a former smugglers’ haunt. Full of character and olde worlde charm, it serves excellent, traditional pub fare. Close to the steam railway, on Tenterden’s main street, The Vine Inn has traditional charm combined with contemporary style. A walled garden is the perfect setting for an afternoon in the sun and the menu offers up a range of tasty options, from fajitas to typical British pub grub.
