St Helens caravanning & camping park

Set within the Dawnay Estate, St Helens Caravanning and Camping Park is just seven miles from the popular seaside resort of Scarborough. The site is also on the edge of the North York Moors National Park meaning there’s plenty of open space to explore and walkers will have many routes to choose from. The site has two separate camping fields with 33 spacious, flat pitches. There is no electric hook-up on the camping pitches. One field shares the children’s play area and so ids ideal for families and the other area is in a quieter location.

There are also 13 pet free pitches. Facilities on site include toilets and showers, a laundry, play area, shop and café. There’s also a bus stop at the park entrance. The site is part of a country park estate, with alpacas and donkeys, fishing and leisure lakes, and for those looking for a little more adventure there’s even a water park with floating inflatable obstacle course.

Harrogate caravan park

Located to the south of Harrogate, and only 2.5 miles from the town centre, Harrogate Caravan Park overlooks the Crimple Valley. There’s a bus stop just half a mile away, with services into Harrogate so you can easily explore the historic buildings, pretty gardens and head to the famous Betty’s tearoom for lunch or afternoon tea. The site has 66 pitches that are a mixture of grass and hardstanding, with electric hook-ups, heated washrooms and a laundry room.

Harrogate Caravan Park is dog friendly too. Adjacent to the park is the award-winning farm shop and café, Fodder. The park is also within the Great Yorkshire Showground which hosts events such as antique fairs, vintage shows and countryside shows. Around 1.5 miles from the site is Rudding Park, a luxury hotel with spa, AA rosette restaurants, golf course and 300 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland.

Old Station Yard caravan camping park

Old Station is a small, family owned park set within the Yorkshire Dales near Masham. This secluded country park is within walking distance of the town which is famous for Theakstons and Black Sheep Breweries. Wildflowers, plants, shrubs, hedges and trees have all been added to create a garden-like atmosphere. Facilities on site include toilets and showers, a laundry, electric hook-ups, Wi-Fi, and café. There are tent pitches on site and additional camping spots in an adjacent field giving you more space and freedom.

Just half a mile from site is the Black Sheep Brewery, producing cask, keg and bottled beers during a family history spanning six generations. The brewery is home to a visitor centre where you can book tours of the brewery, enjoy a drink in the bar or dine in the bistro. Dogs are welcome in bar area too. You’re spoilt for choice in Masham for breweries as there’s also the Theakston brewery here where you can have a tour and stock up on goodies from the shop.

Boroughbridge camping & caravanning club site

A great location for walking or visiting York, the Boroughbridge Club Site is located on the River Ure, just off the A1.  The old town of Boroughbridge is within walking distance, there are some circular walks direct from the site, or you can enjoy a stroll along the river from Roecliffe to Ripon. The site benefits from recently refurbished facilities including toilets and showers, a laundry, children’s play area, dishwashing and shop. Pitches on site include grass with electric hook-up and hardstanding ones.

]There’s also a pub within one mile. A bus stop is within half a mile of the site. 25-minutes’ drive from site is the National Trust’s Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. Here you’ll find ancient abbey ruins surrounded by a water garden of ponds, statues and follies. Riverside paths lead to the deer park, with ancient limes, oaks and sweet chestnuts. This place is also recognised as a World Heritage Site.

York caravan & camping park

If you’re heading to Yorkshire so you can visit its most famous and beautiful city, then you won’t get much closer and more convenient than York Caravan Park. This five-star, adult only park is just two miles from York Minster and there’s a half-hourly bus service from the park entrance that will have you in the city centre within 10 minutes. There are flat, spacious hardstanding and grass pitches that are surrounded by hedges on three sides to add privacy to each pitch.

Each pitch is fully serviced and therefore benefitting from electric, fresh water and waste water hook-up, along with TV hook-up and a lighting bollard. The facilities comprise of privacy rooms with shower, toilet and sink in each, a full disabled suite, free Wi-Fi and a dog walk. The onsite fishing lake and picnic area is free for guests to use and the lake is stocked with chubb, rudd, roach and orfe.

Golden Square caravan & camping park

Tucked away in the southeast corner of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Golden Square Caravan and Camping Park has views across farm, forest and moorland to the Moors beyond. The site is laid out across three different levels with trees, hedges and bushes planted to offer screening for the pitches. Pitches are available with electric. The park is ideal for people holidaying with children as there are two outdoor play areas, an indoor play area, crazy golf and a football field. Other facilities include a shop, toilet and shower blocks with a family/disabled bathroom, a laundry and motorhome fresh and waste water points.

Pets are welcome and there is a dog walking field and numerous woods to wander into. Both 10 minutes’ drive from the site are Helmsley Castle and Sutton Bank. The castle towers over the market town of Helmsley and offers over 900 years of history. Sutton Bank is a dramatic high point on the Hambleton Hills and also an official Dark Sky Park, so perfect for some night-time stargazing.

Peel park camping

Peel Park is a small quiet campsite on a working family dairy farm, home to over 350 cows. Set within the Howardian Hills the site offers stunning countryside views and is only a half-hour journey from the city of York. There is a bus stop half a mile from the site allowing you easy access into the city where you can explore historic sites such as the Minster, Clifford’s Tower and the Shambles. There are also many excellent restaurants, bistros and pubs.

The site has 10 pitches for camping that will easily accommodate a tent of any size. Facilities include a shower block, toilet and pot washing facilities. There is a café and various food establishments within a few miles of the site. While staying at Peel Park, if you would like to learn how a dairy farm operates, the site owners are happy to give guests a free guided tour of the farm.

Vale of Pickering caravan & camping park

Winner of AA Campsite of the Year 2017 for England and Overall Winner for England, Scotland and Wales, Vale of Pickering is a quality site. As the name suggests, Vale of Pickering is located close to the market town of Pickering, along with Dalby Forest, Malton and Helmsley. The caravan and camping park consists of 15 acres, surrounded by countryside with panoramic views and planted with trees, shrubs and hanging baskets. For campers there are grassed camping areas for tents of any size plus an adjoining camping field.

Some pitches have 6 amp electric hook-up. Facilities provided include toilets, showers, bathrooms and privacy cubicles, along with a unisex washroom area with five individual wet rooms, one of which is fully accessible. There is also a laundry, licensed shop, play area and six-acre dog walk. Just over a mile away, on the main A170 Scarborough to Pickering Road, there is a bus stop, and both Scarborough and Helmsley are less than an hour by bus away. You can also easily get to Pickering in 15 minutes.

Crows Nest caravan park

Crows Nest Caravan Park is located on the coast between the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey. The site has its own bus stop at the bottom of the drive with regular services between Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington, running regularly from March to October. Campers have a grassy area that overlooks Gristhorpe Bay and out towards Scarborough Castle. There are grass camping pitches and 16-amp electric hook-up is available.

Families can be reassured that the tent area is well fenced from the clifftop. Facilities on site include toilets, showers, individual wet rooms, a laundry and a motorhome service point. For those with pets there is an enclosed dog walk area where pets can be exercised off the lead. Leisure facilities on the site include a heated indoor swimming pool (charge applies), a family bar and a lounge bar area, fish and chip takeaway, live entertainment and a supermarket.

Scarborough camping & caravanning club site

With a great location for exploring both Yorkshire’s coast and the Moors this Club Site is just north of the Victorian seaside resort. With a bus stop at the site’s gates and the Sealife Centre just over a mile away, exploring the area is easy and convenient, without needing to use the car if you don’t want to. Dalby Forest lies to the west of the site where walkers and cyclists can enjoy many waymarked trails. The site is a large one, with 290 pitches, but these are nicely spaced out and are serviced by good facilities.

These include toilets and showers, a family shower room, electric hook-ups, a designated dog walk, two play parks and an onsite fish and chip takeaway. Just across the road from the site is a footpath through fields that joins the Cleveland Way. Here you can walk to your heart’s content along the coast and gain access to the beach.

Burton Constable holiday park

This holiday park is situated in the middle of the Burton Constable Estate with lakes, meadows and woods in 200 acres of parkland and the stately home of Burton Constable Hall. The grounds are the work of the famous Capability Brown as is the walled garden. There are well-stocked fishing lakes on site and the touring and camping area overlooks two of the impressive lakes and is close to the children’s play area. 10-amp electric hook-ups are available.

There are a choice of grass or hardstanding pitches, along with toilets, showers, a laundry, shop and bar. A short drive from the site is Hull, a port city with several museums in the aptly named Museum Quarter including the Streetlife Museum and Wilberforce Museum. There’s also a vibrant mixture of culture, shopping and nightlife. Half a mile away in the village of Sproatley there is a bus service.

Rukins park lodge campsite

Rukins Park Lodge Campsite is the perfect choice for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life for a while and to enjoy some rest and relaxation. The site is located by the River Swale, a stretch of the river with many picturesque waterfalls. The site is very rural, with no mobile phone signal for four miles! This doesn’t mean the site is basic though, there are electric hook-ups, toilets, wash basins, two showers, washing up facilities and a small farm teashop with hot and cold drinks, light refreshments and basic provisions.

The village of Keld is surrounded by fells and woodland, with many walks leading from the site and of differing lengths. Children enjoy paddling in the river that runs alongside the site and after sufficient rainfall you can take to the river for kayaking too. Campfires are allowed on site too, there are fireboxes provided to keep the fires off the grass, and you can enjoy stunning views over the moors.
