Park review: Mapleton by Willerby

In the last issue we had only sneak-preview details of the Mapleton, prior to its unveiling. Now, we can bring you all of the details…

A wide entrance hall with an upholstered seat, racks and shelves for shoes and five coat hooks plus a cabinet and shelves – and a mirror to check your hair as you come in out of the wind…

As you step inside the new Willerby Mapleton the word ‘practicality’ springs immediately to mind. And, as we explored the 40ft by 20ft lodge, that first impression was continually reinforced. But first, we take a close look at the Mapleton’s stand-out, large luxury element: its media wall, designed for a television of up to 75-inch size. And that’s exactly what’s in place in the show model that we are exploring.

The enormous TV is an optional extra, as you’d expect – but, why not go for it? There’s a sound bar on the cabinet unit below the TV. That’s an extra. Speakers are mounted on shelving units on each side of the lounge and a subwoofer is on the floor beside the medial all unit. They’re extras, too, so that you can get your Mapleton superbly equipped for all sound and television needs.

This is a home of character – techy character, stunning style and, yes, practicality… The lounge’s sumptuous, pale grey L-shaped sofa arrangement faces the TV wall and there’s a square stool with lift-up top to reveal a storage box (practicality again!) – you can place the stool anywhere that suits you.

It’s not just the lounge that is designed for television. The dining area is perfectly positioned for TV watching, too; with two chairs and L-shaped seating, six could easily sit here.

The kitchen is enormous. It has a central island unit/breakfast bar with two stools. A large fridge-freezer sits within a cabinet unit incorporating a four-bottle wine rack (do you call that practicality or luxury – or both?). A microwave is above the oven and grill unit, all at a convenient height for most statures.

The four-burner hob is on the other side of the kitchen from the oven unit; there’s plenty of space everywhere. Even the sink is worthy of comment. It’s matt grey – really attractive – and, alongside the main sink is a smaller sink; both have strainer plugs; more practicality, then!

A dishwasher is an optional extra, as is a washing machine. The flooring throughout the living area is natural wood effect. An ultra-deep pile rug, in a lovely grey shade, sits in the lounge to enhance cosiness.

Along the corridor towards the bedrooms is the main shower room, with a white, tall towel warmer and a counter-top basin; all very stylish.

The main bedroom has a large dressing table with shelving and drawers (more practicality). There’s a walk-in wardrobe with two rails, three drawers and lots of shelf space (even more practicality).

The en suite shower room is of a similar style to the main shower room, and also has a tall, white towel warmer. The twin bedroom has a wardrobe alcove with three drawers and a dressing table. The beds are domestic width (3ft).

The new Mapleton, which is also available as a three-bedroom 40ft by 20ft layout, has style to impress throughout, from its woodwork – pale, with a prominent grain – to its amazing media capability. We love it!
