Holiday Home Review: Willerby Brookwood

877b158f-4ee7-4360-a92e-07abe1a5d4bf

The Brookwood is a holiday home of futuristic layout and design. Its layout is open plan, but with a twist.

Unique features

The wide open area incorporates not just lounge, kitchen and dining functions – but also a breakfast bar. It’s not, as you might expect, though, an adjunct to the kitchen; it’s in its own separate area. This feature makes the Brookwood unique.

At 12ft wide, the Brookwood is definitely holiday home width, as distinct from a lodge, which is usually 20ft wide, yet its extraordinary layout creates the feeling of a lodge. Why? Maybe it’s because the kitchen spans  both sides of the home. Maybe it’s the vast amount of floor space in the lounge. Maybe it’s the generous size of the dining area. Or maybe it’s all of those elements.

Step inside...

As you step inside, it’s the two-seater breakfast bar that immediately sets the tone for this very different holiday home. A place for coffee conviviality, for sure – but also a place for laptop and tablet activity. It’s near enough to the lounge for conversation to flow between the two elements, yet feels separate; a little area that’s great for younger members of the family to call their own. (And also an area for parents to sit quietly with a coffee and keep an eye on very young ones playing in the lounge!)

The kitchen feels – and is – a big, open area, with the main function on one side; that’s the cooker, plus an L-shaped surface and lots of cabinets. Opposite, the fridge/freezer and microwave are integrated into a suite of cabinets. Surface space is ample, and so is cabinet space. This is a holiday  home that’s sure to be a joy for cooking enthusiasts.

The dining area is superbly designed, with L-shaped, upholstered seating, plus two wooden-topped, black metal framed stools; six can comfortably sit here, making the Brookwood an ideal choice for families who like to entertain.

Summer vibes and rustic charm

We love the Brookwood’s pastel turquoise upholstery colour; somehow it conveys a sunny summer vibe. The reclaimed wood finish adds an element of rustic charm and blends seamlessly with the modern style elements. This mix of pale turquoise and natural wood features throughout the Brookwood.

In the bedrooms it creates a calm, restful look, with luxurious velvet, vertically aligned upholstered  panels making up the bedheads that run the full width of both rooms. The two bedroom Brookwood that we review here has a king-size bed, with a base that lifts up to reveal a storage area.

The Brookwood is available in six sizes, ranging in length from 28ft to 40ft. Two of the sizes have three bedrooms. These have double beds, rather than king-size, in the main bedroom.
