Holiday Home Review: Prestige Hampton

The Hampton has bedrooms at each end and a huge lounge-dining room with a full wall of door-windows.

For 2021 the Hampton gets new kitchen styling, featuring matt dark blue cabinetry finished with stunning metal handles that have a mesh-like finish. The L-shape of the kitchen units incorporates a dishwasher as well as five lower cabinets, three drawers and five top cabinets plus the fridge-freezer. The washing machine is cleverly accommodated elsewhere – in a large cupboard off the hallway. More practicality is here in the hallway; seven coat hooks plus a boot seat are in a recess and, off the hallway, is one of the Hampton’s distinguishing features: a toilet and basin, just as you’d find off a hallway in many modern houses.

A two-seater breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the lounge. Space is the keynote here, and there’s a touch of traditional styling in the form of a ‘log burner’ fire in a big cream fireplace with a black marble plinth.

Lighting is stunning. Three enormous glass lights hang on chrome chains above the breakfast bar. And above the dining table is a candelabra-inspired design light, again chrome and hanging on a chunky chain.

The twin bedroom has a bathroom. The dark blue style theme of the kitchen appears here in the form of tiles forming an almost herringbone pattern en suite with an over-bath shower. This bedroom has a walk-in dressing wardrobe room alongside the bathroom.

The double bedroom has a floor-to-ceiling window with a door to lead to your decking. Behind the bedhead, a small corridor leads to a dressing area and a shower en suite with the same herringbone pattern as seen in the bathroom. Wood plays a significant part in the Hampton’s styling, with ultra-pale grey wood panelling on the bedhead wall and parquet pale oak flooring in the lounge in a geometric pattern.

Our view

The Hampton has style and individuality written through it like the letters in a stick of rock. This is a super luxury lodge with a splendid lounge-dining-kitchen layout – and we love the idea of having bedrooms at each end.
