Heather Bank Park is set in eighteen acres adjacent to the Glennifer Brae Country Park, and enjoys magnificent views over the beautiful East Renfrewshire countryside.

The park is conveniently located in the rural countryside of Shilford Hamlet some three miles from Neilston and five miles from Barrhead. There, you will find all the shopping services that you need. Closer to hand is a convenience store less than half-a-mile from the park entrance. The established park has been carefully developed and modernised over the last three years, to create a modern park in a stunning location. It is completely surrounded by countryside and away from main roads, ensuring a peaceful village lifestyle for residents. The village of Neilston lies in the Levern Valley and comprises a resident population of around 5,000. It is mentioned in documents as early as the 12th century, and its early history is marked by its status as an important ecclesiastical parish linked with Paisley Abbey to the north. Before industrialisation, the village was a scattered farming and weaving settlement composed of a series of single-storey houses, many of them thatched. During the 18th century it became a centre for cotton and calico bleaching and printing, which developed into a spinning and dying industry and continued into the early 20th century. Today, agriculture continues to play an economic role, with the annual Neilston Agricultural Show being an important trading and cultural event for farmers from southwest Scotland each spring. The name Barrhead derives from the agricultural term Barr, meaning long ploughed furrows for the cultivation of crops. The original homestead or hamlet was literally situated at the head of barrs and became known as Barrhead. The River Levern has its source in Loch Long, and for a few miles divides parts of East Renfrewshire, passing the village of Neilston and the town of Barrhead, and uniting its waters with those of the White Cart Water. Glasgow Airport and city centre are within a 30-minute drive of Heather Bank Park, and yet a country walk begins right from your front door.
