A new campervan brand is coming to the UK. Tourne campervans are built in Slovenia by Tourne Mobil and already sold in Norway. Now it is launching here as well as in other European countries. It is expected the first model will be launched at the October NEC motorhome show in Birmingham.

The manufacturer is aiming at the higher end of the campervan market and the models on sale here will be based on those developed in collaboration with its dealers in Norway. This means they will be fully winterised.

For example, during construction the majority of the habitation area in the Peugeot Boxer/Fiat Ducato base vehicles is wrapped in 3cm of Armaflex Armacell elastomeric foam insulation, which has a closed cell structure to prevent condensation and moisture accumulation that leads to mould.

There is also bespoke floor heating, which is provided using a hybrid heating system from Webasto using both diesel and propane gas to heat both the water and air.

The Tourne’s kitchen features a dual-burner gas stove, a high-level fridge and a stainless-steel sink – all of which can be covered up with a fold-down acrylic worktop. High and low-level cupboards feature ‘easy’ locks and securing mechanisms.

LED lighting is standard throughout with ambient lighting in the living area, high-intensity lighting in the workspaces (table, kitchen, sleeping area), minimal night lamp in the sleeping area) and focused task lighting in the wardrobe.

Tourne’s first campervan also comes with its patented Dream4 system, which allows users to configure the vehicle to sleep four people on real beds. The rear is equipped with a transverse flip-up double bed, while the front lounge can be converted from a living and dining space into a second bedroom.

Other elements that confirm Tourne’s aspirations to compete at the higher end of the campervan market are that all its windows are all double-glazed and flush with the vehicle body. The two skylights in the front and central area feature both a retractable sunshade and a flyscreen. There isa  third skylight in the washroom.

It is still early days in relation to the UK launch and there is currently no specific UK model nor any available in right-hand drive. In addition, the new marque has yet to appoint UK dealers.

“Tourne, after a successful start in Norway, is now approaching the rest of Europe and we are confronted with a huge workload given by the multiple activities needed in the different countries,” said Alessandro Fiumidinisi, Managing Director of Tourne Mobil.
