Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park, Somerset campsite review

fdae3c2d-ccb8-4f9a-822b-350cff5ba651
Bath Chew Valley is a small Caravan Club-affiliated park with outstanding awards and it was our first choice for touring the area of Bath, Bristol, Cheddar and Wells. This adults-only park is a few moments’ walk from local services in Bishop Sutton, and five minutes’ walk to the lovely Chew Lake, a championship fishing venue, sailing centre and major wildfowl reserve.

The park grounds, facilities and pitches are always superbly maintained whatever time of the year (we’ve stayed here several times). Standard pitches are gravel hardstandings with electric hook-up, and fully serviced pitches are optional. All have been skilfully landscaped, separated by shrubs, hedges and mature trees which provide privacy and a charming garden atmosphere around the park. The site has a policy of not having cars parked on pitches which makes things noticeably quieter and more relaxed with fewer vehicles passing by.

Hotel-style individual shower-rooms are warm and comfortable to use even on a blustery autumn morning. Similarly, the wash-up and laundry rooms are fully-equipped and heated. Pets are well catered for, with a large, fenced dog walk called Pups Parade and good footpaths and lakeside trails. For guides to local attractions, cycle routes, walks and eating out, the park’s information room has to be the best we have seen and includes free use of a computer and printer.

A stay at Bath Chew Valley provides a refreshing countryside break with top facilities and helpful staff always available.
