It offers 50 pitches with hardstandings available. On-site facilities include a toilet block, laundry room, dishwashing area, outdoor play area and a ball games field, together with a dog walk. The campsite has views of the fells and is a couple of miles from the town of Kendal, where you'll find a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. Also nearby is the Steamboat Museum which runs cruises on the lakes. Easily reached from the M6, Junctions 36 and 39.
Non-members are welcome at this site. Be aware that some pitches are sloping so chocks are required.
There's a bus stop 0.25 miles from the site entrance on the routes to Windermere (8 miles), Keswick (30 miles) and Penrith (28 miles).
The closest railway station is just one mile away at Kendal. On the Windermere to Oxenholme line, there are trains to London, Manchester and Birmingham.
With around 30,000 inhabitants to cater for, you'll find a multitude of attractions in Kendal. To name but a few.. two castles, two museums, historical buildings and bridges, shopping arcades, fine restaurants and pubs.
On Station road you'll find the Kendal Museum. Here is a re-creation of Alfred Wainwright's office which was based at the Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall. Fell wanderer, artist and author of the famous walking books, Wainwright lived in Kendal for the last 50 years of his life.
The closest lake from the site is Lake Windermere at approximately ten miles away.
