Mercedes-Benz Sprinter wins safety award

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has won the European Innovation Award at Europe’s largest motorhome show, the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf
It was named winner in the “Base vehicle for mobile home add-ons and bodies” category.
It won for its “comprehensive range of new assistance and safety systems”. The Sprinter was one of 10 vehicles nominated for the award, which was presented by motorhome trade journalists from all over Europe to honour innovative new campervan products.
The Sprinter is used by several manufacturers as the base vehicle for their motorhomes and campervans. It features five new safety systems, including Crosswind Assist, which is standard on most variants; this senses and counteracts crosswinds, leading to a significant reduction in driver stress.
The other four safety innovations for the new Sprinter are optional: Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, High Beam Assist, and Collision Prevention Assist. The last of these alerts the driver if he or she is too close to another vehicle or an obstacle.
