Facelifted Fiat Ducato breaks cover

372b074e-c769-45f2-9047-3031a838ae1d

After months of speculation, the new-look Fiat Ducato has finally been revealed, hot on the heels of the new Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay.

The new-look Sevel-built vans are set to become the face of the majority of motorhomes, from this summer; with the October NEC motorhome show likely to offer UK customers the first opportunity to see offerings from all major converters.

All three manufacturers promise car-like design, improved reliability, increased efficiency, and higher-specifications.

As with the previous generation models, the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay share a 2.2-litre diesel unit, while the Ducato uses Fiat’s 2.3-litre engine. All three vans share the Fiat-built 3.0-litre lump.

Fiat quotes 44.1mpg from its entry-level 110bhp engine, while the 130 and 150bhp versions promise 45.6mpg and C02 emissions of 164g/km, when equipped with the optional Start&Stop. While the top-of-the-line 180bhp 3.0-litre unit, returns 36.7mpg.

All three vans offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Load Adaptive Control (LAC), ABS with Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), plus the option to specify the built-in five-inch colour touchscreen with a reversing camera; SatNav and DAB.

The ComfortMatic ‘automatic’ gearbox will remain a Fiat-only option.
